Comics Working Group Winter 2025

Join us at SAW this Winter for our next In-Person Comics Working Group!

This accountability group is a one-a-week meeting for Gainesville locals to bring whatever long term, short term, or anywhere-in-between project.

Set up like studio time in a college art class, there will be 2 critiques and weekly goals.

The aim of this accountability group is comprised of the following goals:

  • Bring SAW locals into the SAW studio space

  • Get ample feedback on projects currently being worked on

  • Maintain a weekly art practice within community



The group will be led by SAW Executive Assistant, Carly Shooster.

Carly Shooster is a Jewish-American comics artist based in Gainesville, Florida. She is currently working on a Graphic Novel titled Mamita, exploring themes of motherhood, childhood, and displacement, with a dash of magical realism.

Price

Sliding Scale $200-$750 (suggested $350).

The amount is set to $200, please Add-On one or multiple amounts if you can give more than $200 to help support comics education.
