The first thing to do if you want more depth and details in your art
What's the number one thing I tell people in my class about learning to draw depth and details?
LOOK FOR THE LAYERS!
And the best first place to look is the Hudson River School of painting.
I love to trace these images, and have my students trace these images, identifying each separate layer (there are often more than 10!)
In my lectures I will show you masterful drawings and paintings and we will examine the layers from the front to the back, and analyze how those artists arranged and depicted each layer.
And then we look at how to render it in black and white. This drawing is 3 feet tall! (That's my hand and pointer moving through the image.)
You can learn this and more. You can learn to see it, and you can learn to do it!
